NH police bloodhound tracks down Maine fugitive

DOVER - Police say a bloodhound from New Hampshire tracked down a fugitive wanted in connection with the death of his girlfriend in northern Maine.

Maine State Police say Daisy Mae picked up the scent of Jesse Marquis on Friday morning and led authorities to his capture about 90 minutes later in the woods in St. Francis, Maine, near the Canadian border.

Police say Daisy Mae and Deputy Keith Mac-Kenzie from the K-9 unit of New Hampshire's Strafford County Sheriff's Department joined the search Friday morning.

Police say Marquis was taken without incident when confronted by police at gunpoint. He was being processed at the Fort Kent police department and expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.

The Strafford County Sheriff's Department said Maine authorities asked if the K-9 unit was available to come up and assist with the manhunt.

MacKenzie drove up Thursday night with the bloodhound and was on his way home Friday afternoon after Daisy Mae got her man within 90 minutes.
