Two hospitalized after I-93 accident in Ashland

ASHLAND — Two people from Ohio were injured in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 93 in Ashland, New Hampshire State Police said.

Cynthia Martin, 40, of Dayton, Ohio, was driving a sedan southbound on I-93 when the car drifted off the road and struck the guardrail Saturday around 7 p.m., state police said.

Passenger Richard Markland, 41, also of Dayton, was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon with extensive injuries. State Police Troop F, which handled the accident, did not have an update on his condition Sunday and there was not one immediately available from the hospital.

Martin was taken to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth with significant injuries, according to the release.

Investigators were still trying to determine what caused the car to drift and collide with the guardrail.
