New Hampshire K-9 unit tracks down fugitive in Maine

DOVER — Police say a bloodhound from New Hampshire tracked down a fugitive wanted in connection with the death of his girlfriend in northern Maine.

Maine State Police say Daisy Mae picked up the scent of Jesse Marquis Friday morning and led authorities to his capture about 90 minutes later in the woods in St. Francis, Maine, near the Canadian border.

Police say Daisy Mae and Deputy Keith MacKenzie from the K-9 unit of the Strafford County sheriff’s department joined the search Friday morning.

Police say Marquis was taken without incident when confronted by police at gunpoint.

He was being processed at the Fort Kent police department and expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.
