Police use taser on man who allegedly made threats with knife

MANCHESTER — A man who allegedly threatened residents of an apartment building while brandishing a large knife Friday afternoon was later tasered after charging toward an officer, Lt. Todd Boucher said.

Saleh Alwadie, 28, who lives on the fourth floor of an apartment building at 1200 Elm St., apparently became agitated about 3 p.m. Friday and entered the lobby area of the building carrying a large knife, Boucher said.

Alwadie left the building before police arrived, later returned and charged toward an officer carrying an object in his hand, Boucher said.

The officer asked him to stop several times, but kept coming and was tasered, he said. The object turned out to be a cell phone and not the knife, he said.

He was charged with three counts of criminal threatening, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled drug after police found a small amount of marijuana in his possession, Boucher said.
