Soldiers form special N.H. hurling club

Lt. Col. Ray Valas of Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion of the 172nd Mountain Infantry of the New Hampshire National Guard, formed the team, based out of Concord, N.H., eight years ago. As the group stopped over at the airport bar in Shannon, Ireland, on the way back from its tour, the soldiers were able to enjoy alcohol for the first time since their deployment. As they drank their Guinness, they watched some hurling on television and the idea sprouted to form the team.
