Cat pulled from the engine of a car recovering from ordeal

MANCHESTER — A cat who was pulled from the engine of a car is on the road to recovery after surgery that included 100 stitches, according to the Manchester Animal Shelter.

The cat, Tommy, was rescued from the engine by Manchester firefighters after enduring a 3-mile trip. It was found wedged between a strut and some hot metal, the shelter said in a release.

Veterinarian Dr. Kevin Pascoe said in a statement that Tommy will be a healthy cat, “not to mention a lucky one.”

Tommy is declawed and neutered, suggesting that he was someone’s pet, the release said.
