Hollis man charged after standoff with police

HAROLD E. BRASELMANN

HOLLIS - Police arrested a 68-year-old Southgate Road man after an hours-long stand-off at his home following a report he had assaulted a woman who lives with him.

Police went to the home of Harold E. Braselmann of 15 Southgate Road at 10:45 p.m. Thursday after a 52-year-old woman called to report he had allegedly assaulted her.

Officers tried to speak with Braselmann, but police said he locked himself in an upstairs bedroom and refused to talk to them.

Lt. Richard Mello said because of the large amount of guns in the home the Nashua Special Reaction Team was called to the scene.

Ultimately, Braselmann peacefully surrendered to police at 4:40 a.m. and was charged with simple assault and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.

After his arrest, officers searched the home and removed 20 guns and rifles because of bail conditions that barred Braselmann from possessing any weapons. They also recovered several ounces of marijuana.

The incident remains under investigation. The woman was not injured, police said.

Braselmann is being held on $2,500 cash/surety bail pending arraignment later today in 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District Division.
