Man seriously hurt in reported home invasion

BERLIN – Authorities are continuing to investigate a reported home invasion on the city's West Side in which a man was seriously beaten and is now listed in critical condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Berlin police in a prepared statement said they were called at 4:49 p.m. Sunday to 183 Jericho Road, which is also known as New Hampshire Route 110, for a report of a home invasion which resulted in a serious assault.

Officers met a woman at the scene who told them that upon her arrival at the residence, she discovered that one of the doors had been kicked in and that one of the occupants was lying on the ground, “obviously beaten.”

While saying the victim “sustained major injuries,” Berlin police did not identify him but said he was first taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin and later transported to DHMC.
