This weekend's Children and the Arts Festival takes place in downtown Peterborough. The event encourages children to get creative and hand build large puppet heads out of various materials during workshops that precede the festival. This year's theme is Fairies, Dragons and Other Mythical Creatures. Now in its 21st year, the festival features a puppet parade through downtown, live music, a performance by the Tanglewood Marionettes, martial arts demonstrations, dance performances, hoop dancing, a drumline, youth choirs, SPRING! A Circus Spectacular, arts and crafts, storytelling and so much more. Downtown streets will be closed to vehicular traffic. Admission is free.
