Despite some less-than-stellar defense, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats came from behind to defeat the Portland Sea Dogs 6-5 Saturday at Portland's Hadlock Field.

The Fisher Cats committed three errors in the game, but raised their Eastern League record to 15-19. The loss dropped Portland to 21-12.

The Fisher Cats broke a 4-4 tie by scoring twice with two outs in the eighth. Shortstop Kevin Nolan made it a 5-4 game when he scored on reliever Matty Ott's wild pitch. Yusuf Carter added to the lead when he scored on a Jonathan Jones double.

Heiker Meneses tripled to lead off the ninth and scored on Derrik Gibson's sacrifice fly, but the Sea Dogs failed to put another runner on base.

Ott (0-1) was making his first appearance since coming off the disabled list.

Nolan finished the game with two hits and two RBIs. New Hampshire first baseman Mike McDade also had two hits in the victory.

The Sea Dogs scored four runs in the second inning, which featured two walks, a hit-batter and a fielding error by third baseman Andy Burns. The error came with two outs in the inning and allowed two runs to score.

New Hampshire pitching held Portland to three hits after the four-run second, however. Reliever Tyler Ybarra (1-0) struck out the only batter he faced to collect the win, and Scott Gracey allowed a run in two innings to earn the save.

Casey Janssen, on an MLB rehab assignment, worked a perfect first inning for the Fisher Cats. The 32-year old right-hander is expected to work again in Sunday's game (1 p.m.) at Hadlock Field. Scott Copeland took over and pitched into the seventh inning, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. Copeland walked two and struck out five.

Portland second baseman Mookie Betts did not play in the game. Betts, who has reached base in his last 61 games, had a scheduled day off.
