Airport gets new restaurant, passes federal certification

MANCHESTER — A ribbon cutting is set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday for a new restaurant at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.

Dubbed “The Local,” the eatery will feature “some of the best and most popular delicacies of the local Manchester market,” according to a news release.

In other airport news, it recently passed annual certification inspections by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration.

“Once again, the FAA’s annual certification inspection showed the results of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our operations and maintenance professionals,” said Airport Director Mark Brewer. “This was an especially challenging inspection given the long and arduous winter and the relatively short timeframe to prepare for the FAA’s comprehensive three-day inspection.”

The certification inspection included airport rescue/firefighting equipment, training and response times; the airport emergency plan; and operations/maintenance personnel training and performance.

The airport’s security/K-9 teams also successfully completed their annual TSA recertification inspection.
