Gravestone stolen in Hebron

HEBRON — Police are asking for the public’s help in finding and returning a gravestone stolen from the Hebron Village Cemetery.

Police Lt. Travis Austin said the cemetery’s sexton discovered the stone was missing on Wednesday afternoon.

The stone bears the name of Dave Jewell.

The stone is about 3 1/2 feet tall and 1 1/2 feet wide, and 2 1/2 inches thick, Austin said.

“It was stolen sometime between the evening of May 3 and the morning of May 7,” Austin said. “We have no leads or suspects at this time.”

Anyone with information on the taking of or whereabouts of the stone is asked to contact Austin at 744-5509 or via email at police@hebronnh.org.
