Keene Sentinel endorses doubling of parking fines and fees
There are legitimate issues that would arise from raising rates. Understanding that Keene’s parking rates are lower than most other cities in the region doesn’t change the fact that wages here are also lower than in many other Northeastern cities. That means doubling a necessary cost of being an employee — which is what the city is proposing — may mean the difference between a worker staying or leaving the area, or between a prospective employee taking or rejecting a job offer.
