Driver charged in Manchester hit-and-run

MELISSA CABRERA

MANCHESTER — A city woman is accused of leaving the scene of an accident after a crash Tuesday afternoon on Union Street, near Hanover Street.

Officer Greg DiTullio was on patrol at 4:50 p.m. when he noticed a newly damaged Nissan Altima parked on Union Street.

A witness told the officer the car was just hit by an SUV that left the scene. Based on information provided by the witness, DiTullio was able to identify the SUV’s driver Melissa Cabrera, 35, of 137 Orange St.

Cabrera allegedly was driving her friend’s Ford Explorer when she was momentarily distracted, veered off the road and struck the parked Nissan. Police said she left the crash scene because she did not have a valid license.

Police charged her with conduct after an accident and operating a motor vehicle after license suspension.
