GOFFSTOWN — Police said they are searching for an armed man who robbed the Cumberland Farms on Mast Road Wednesday night.
Police said a Hispanic male entered the store at 772 Mast Road at 9:39 p.m., brandished what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money and cigarettes. He left on foot.
“It was quick,” said Lt. Keith Chauvette of the Goffstown Police Department. “He was in and out in less than a minute.”
There were no customers in the store at the time and no one was injured, Chauvette said.
Surveillance cameras recorded the robbery. The robber is believed to be between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 8. He wore a black short-sleeved T-shirt over a gray long-sleeved shirt, dark colored pants and a black baseball cap. A blue and white bandanna covered his face.
Chauvette said officers are studying the surveillance tape and canvassing the neighborhood. Police are also checking security cameras at neighboring businesses to see if they captured anything that might be helpful, Chauvette said.
About half a dozen armed robberies were reported in Goffstown within the last year. The weapons involved included a metal pipe, a small wooden bat and firearms. Arrests have been made in some of those cases, Chauvette said.
“For us, it’s becoming more commonplace,” Chauvette said.
The Cumberland Farms robbery occurred in a busy area during peak business hours, pointing to a more brazen type of offender, Chauvette said.
Police ask anyone with information regarding the robbery to call the police department at 497-4858.
