NHIAA Roundup: Derryfield boys’ sticksters outscore Pelham

Collin Duff-Marsh did his best. But even his 24 saves couldn’t keep the Derryfield of Manchester boys’ lacrosse team from posting a 12-5 victory over Duff-Marsh’s Pelham Pythons on Tuesday in Pelham.

Senior Grant Alenson poured in five goals for the undefeated (5-0) Cougars. Drew Johnson added two goals and an assist, and Mike Chiasson and Lee Sites scored two goals each. Jimmy O’Brien notched three assists and Griffin Phaneuf had a goal and two assists for Derryfield, which led by only 7-4 after three quarters. Pelham (1-4) was led by Nick Wolfram with two goals.

Girls’ lacrosse

John Stark 17, ConVal 6: On Monday in Weare, Maddy Zimmerman scored three goals for ConVal and teammates Meghan Close and Zoe Paige each contributed one goal and one assist.

Pinkerton 15, Nashua South 1: Maggie McCarthy and Erin Coutts scored three goals each and Kennedy Daziel had two goals an an assist for Pinkerton. Ali Davis and Nola Wesche scored twice. Tori Kane had the Nashua South goal.


Goffstown 12, Manchester West 1: On Monday, Jason Thomas pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts to lead the Grizzlies. Ryan Pinard led the way for the Goffstown offense with two hits, while Cole Carreau added a two-run double. Goffstown improved to 5-1. Tres Beeson and Christian Olivo had doubles for West (0-5).

Hollis/Brookline 12, Pembroke 1: On Monday in Pembroke, the Spartans were held to three hits and fell to 1-4 in Division I. Jake Gaskell, Noah Cote and Liam Wright collected Pembroke’s hits.

Alvirne 5, Exeter 3: Righthander Robbie Flohr threw a complete game three-hitter and fanned six to lead Alvirne of Hudson to a win against Exeter in Hudson.

Three straight complete game pitching wins from Flohr, Derek Hudson and Tyler Brown have evened Alvirne’s record after an 0-3 start. On 94 pitches, Flohr walked two batters. James Peel had a two-run triple for Exeter.

Salem 10, Manchester Memorial 7: Nick Shumski drove in four runs, while Cody Soucy and Jake Dufton drove in two apeice as the Blue Devils earned the victory. Salem starter Zack Martineau earned the win, throwing 5-2/3 innings, allowing six hits and one earned run. Matt Meisner pitched the seventh to earn the save

Cody Bassett drove in three runs and Grant Corbett homered for Memorial.


Exeter 11, Alvirne 8: Natalie Bruno hit a two-run homer and McKenzie McGrath went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Exeter (3-3).

The Blue Hawks scored seven runs in the fourth to take control of the game. Alvirne is 2-4.
