NH man dies while diving in Florida Keys

A 48-year-old New Hampshire man died Wednesday while diving with his family in the Florida Keys, according to a release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

Matthew Prior of North Hampton was on a diving trip with his family and was on a “hooka rig” while under water for about 15 minutes. He had indicated to a dive instructor “several times” that he was all right before signaling that he wanted to surface, the release said.

While surfacing, Prior became unresponsive and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the release said. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
