Colebrook and Berlin to get VA clinics

The Department of Veterans Affairs has approved the opening of two health-care clinics in the North Country.

New Hampshire’s two U.S. Senators, Democrat Jeanne Shaheen and Republican Kelly Ayotte, who for years have pushed for better access to medical care for North Country veterans, announced the news in a joint news release on Wednesday.

The plan calls for the White River Junction (Vt.) VA Medical Center to open part-time clinics in Colebrook and Berlin.

The new sites will offer primary and preventative care, laboratory services and “tele-health” services.

The clinics are expected to serve more than 2,500 veterans and are scheduled to open by the fall, according to the VA.
