Manchester mayor continues recovery from heart surgery
MANCHESTER — Mayor Ted Gatsas continues his recovery from heart bypass surgery, according to Sam Piatt, the mayor’s chief of staff.
The procedure was performed Tuesday at Catholic Medical Center. A CMC spokesman said Thursday night the hospital did not have Ted Gatsas listed as a patient.
But Piatt said the mayor is doing well and is up and walking.
Gatsas announced Monday that he was having a medical procedure, though he would not say what it was.
On Tuesday, his brother, Michael Gatsas, released a statement saying the bypass operation was a success and that doctors “expect a full recovery.”
Board of Mayor and Aldermen President Dan O’Neil will chair the board while Gatsas recuperates. The Board of School Committee meetings will be run by board Vice Chair David Wihby.
Piatt said Gatsas will be doing some work from home.
