AROUND THE WORLD: "Eyes of Rwanda," an exhibit by photographer Evie Lovett, will be on display Friday and Saturday at Keene State College in Centennial Hall a the Alumni Center on Main Street in Keene, during the second annual Monadnock International Film Festival. Lovett traveled to the destitute region of Rwinkwavu, Rwanda, in 2006 with the Boston-based organization, Partners in Health, which had been invited by the government of Rwanda and the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative to share details of its models for AIDS treatment. "In 1994, almost one million Rwandans were killed in a span of 100 days, an act of incomprehensible genocide," curators said. "The hospital had been left untouched since then. Lovett was the first photographer permitted to photograph in the rebuilt hospital." The exhibit is meant to complement the MONIFF 2014 Jonathan Daniels film, "Watchers of the Sky," by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and director Edet Belzberg. The film, which chronicles the life of Raphael Lemkin — who coined the word "genocide" — will screen at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Colonial Theate in Keene.
