NH residents get prison for bank robberies
Daniel Barry, 38, of Pembroke, was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court to 63 months in prison with five years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $15,471 in restitution...Prosecutors said Barry robbed Kennebunk Savings in Eliot on Oct. 19, and a week later robbed Ocean Communities Federal Credit Union (OCFCU) in Sanford.
Brianne Mone, 27, of Dover, was sentenced to 45 months in prison and three years of supervised release for aiding and abetting armed bank robbery. The charges are in connection to the armed robbery on Aug. 21 of Citizens Bank in Somersworth, N.H., and the Oct. 26 OCFCU robbery. She was ordered to pay $10,708 in restitution...According to a news release issued by U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II, Barry vaulted over the teller counter during the Kennebunk Savings robbery and took $7,896 from the teller drawers, while his associate Philip Gage, 46, of Somersworth, N.H., pointed a Ruger Red Hawk .44 Magnum revolver at tellers...Prosecutors said Barry supplied the .44 Magnum revolver used by Gage during the robbery and also provided a Dan Wesson .22 caliber revolver used by Gage to rob $8,574 from OCFCU. Both firearms were recovered during a search of Barry's residence, according to investigators...Mone was the getaway driver for the Citizens Bank and OCFCU armed robberies. During the Citizens robbery, Gage gave a teller a handwritten note that said, in part, “I have a bomb and a gun if you say a word you will die.” Gage made off with $3,132...Prosecutors said four people were part of a bank robbery ring that staged five robberies in the two states last year between Aug. 21 and Oct. 26.
Gage told authorities about Barry's involvement and also implicated Marvin Eugene Ansteth Jr., 40, of Somersworth, according to authorities...Gage pleaded guilty in March in connection with the robberies in Somersworth, Exeter and Elliot. He also pleaded guilty to firearms offenses and is awaiting sentencing.
In January, Ansteth pleaded guilty to being the getaway driver in three armed bank robberies: Peoples United Bank in Exeter, N.H., on Oct. 7; Meredith Village Savings Bank in Alton, N.H., on Oct. 10; and Kennebunk Savings in Eliot on Oct. 19...The case was investigated by the FBI, Maine State Police, and the Elliot, Kittery, Sanford, Berwick, York, Maine, and Exeter, Somersworth, Alton and Pembroke, N.H., police departments...
