Man arrested in Exeter for child porn, exposing self to girl, 7
EXETER – After learning a warrant was issued, an Indiana man drove to town and turned himself in to local police Tuesday.
Stephen S. Day, 26, currently of Indiana, was charged with a felony count of child pornography and a Class A misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure on a child.
The investigation began after the mother of the girl contacted police Aug. 10 to say her daughter indicated the man exposed himself for about two hours when they were alone the previous day, according to police.
“During an interview with detectives, Day also confessed to being a ‘collector’ of child pornography and stated that he had built his collection while stationed in Guam for the Navy. Day later told investigators that he wiped/deleted most of his collection upon returning to the U.S.,” according to police.
After obtaining a search warrant for Day’s current desktop computer, investigators said they discovered several photos of child sexual abuse images.
Day is being held at the Rockingham County Jail on $500 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned via video Wednesday, according to police.
