NH residents warned: Phone scam uses class action lawsuit talk as bait

CONCORD — New Hampshire residents are being warned about a scheme in which callers claiming to be providing information about a class action lawsuit ask people for personal information about bank accounts and medical records.

Attorney General Joseph Foster said the callers claim to be talking about a class action lawsuit involving the use of surgical mesh, and target women, in particular women who have had surgery involving surgical mesh.

The callers try to obtain information about medical histories as well as bank and credit card information.

Foster said anyone who receives that sort of call should hang up and report the incident to his office at 1-888-468-4454.
