Manchester police search for bank robber

Manchester police are investigating a robbery Monday morning at Bank of America on Massabesic Street. (PAT GROSSMITH/UNION LEADER)

Police are seeking this man in connection with Monday morning's robbery of the Bank of America branch on Massabesic Street in Manchester.

MANCHESTER - Police are looking for a man who pointed a gun at two Bank of America customers, ordering them down on the floor, and then robbed a teller at gunpoint Monday morning at the bank branch on Massabesic Street.
The robbery happened just after 9:30 a.m.
Sgt. Brian N. O'Keefe described the robbery as a violent one. The man, wearing a black ski mask, entered the 728 Massabesic St. bank, pointed the gun at two customers, ordered them to get down on the ground, and then turned the weapon on a bank teller, ordering her to fill a red backpack with cash.
Once he had the cash, the robber fled the bank on foot, O'Keefe said. He apparently didn't zip the backpack shut, however, because police found some of the stolen money scattered around on the ground.
O'Keefe would not disclose how much was stolen in the robbery or how much of it police recovered.
A police dog was brought in to try to track down the robber but was unsuccessful, according to O'Keefe.
In addition to the ski mask, the robber wore a black and white plaid-style snowboarding jacket and tan gloves.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who recognizes the jacket or knows who committed the robbery. They can be reached at the police station at 668-8711.
