Price sharp against Red Sox

David Price pitched 6 2/3 strong innings in the Tampa Bay Rays’ 8-4 Grapefruit League win over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Price allowed only three hits and two runs and struck out seven. On the other hand, Sox starter and loser Allen Webster allowed three runs, one unearned, and three hits in four innings.

Shortstop Deven Marrero homered for Boston. DH Ryan Lavarnway went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

James Loney went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs for the Rays. David DeJesus went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.

Saturday loss

Philadelphia ace Cliff Lee outpitched Boston ace Jon Lester in the Phillies’ 4-1 win Saturday night. Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Ben Revere went 2-for-4 while driving in a run for Philly. Jonny Gomes provided all of Boston’s offense with a seventh-inning homer.
