School bus slides off road, slams into trees in Deerfield

The Deerfield Police Department, Deerfield Fire and Rescue and the Nottingham Police and Nottingham Ambulance responded to a motor vehicle crash on Cate Road in Deerfield, involving a school bus. Officers found a school bus into the woods. The bus was occupied by the driver and her daughter. There were no students on the bus at the time of the crash. Minor injuries involved. DEERFIELD — A school bus carrying only the bus driver and her daughter skidded off a road, jumped a snowbank and crashed into a stand of trees late Friday afternoon.

The driver and the young girl, described as being “younger than school age,” suffered minor injuries.



The crash happened on Cate Road in Deerfield at about 4 p.m., apparently after the bus had completed its rounds serving the Nottingham School District. Only the driver and her young daughter were on the bus at the time of the crash.

Police have not released the name of the driver, but say the bus was owned by a private company based in Texas.

Deerfield Police Sgt. Michael Lavoie said the road was wet at the time of the crash,

The yellow school bus was returning to its depot in Epsom at the time of the accident.

A police investigation is continuing.
