A CIA bombshell: Feinstein and the Fourth

March 11. 2014 5:47PM

U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said on Tuesday that the CIA illegally accessed committee computers. Feinstein said the spying, which the CIA denies, was an obvious violation of the Fourth Amendment’s guarantee against unreasonable searches.

When citizens made that same claim regarding NSA collection of phone, Internet and email records, Feinstein dismissed the concern. Now that she believes the government is spying on her, suddenly the Fourth Amendment applies.

If Feinstein is right about the spying, this demands immediate action from Congress. An intelligence apparatus that spies on U.S. senators to protect itself is an obvious threat to American liberties.
