Massachusetts woman injured in Milan snowmobile crash
MILAN - A Massachusetts woman suffered non-life threatening injuries after she crashed a rental snowmobile into trees off Corridor 19 in Milan Sunday afternoon.
New Hampshire Fish and Game officials issued a press release Sunday night reporting that Samantha Carneiro, 21, of Franklin, Mass., was operating a rental Ski-Doo south on Corridor 19 when she veered off into soft snow near a sharp corner, then crashed the vehicle into some trees. Carneiro was thrown from the machine and suffered a leg injury.
Personnel from Milan and Dummer Fire and Rescue, Berlin EMS and Gorham Fire and Rescue responded, providing initial medical treatment until Carneiro was carried out to Milan Hill Road to a waiting ambulance. She was transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for treatment of her minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation, but officials believe rider inexperience was a contributing factor in the crash, according to the release.
