GILFORD – A janitor was arrested after a video camera set up inside a Gilford veterinarian's office captured him dipping into the drug cabinet, according to police.
The owner of MacDonald Veterinary Services discovered small quantities of a drug disappearing, according to police, and the camera was set up.
Arrested was Bruce A. Sanborn Jr., 42, of 43 Gilford East Drive, Gilford, who lives in an apartment in the same building containing the veterinary office. He was charged with theft by unauthorized taking and possession of a controlled drug. Police said both charges were upgraded to felonies based on Sanborn's past convictions.
The owner of the business discovered that small amounts of Telazol, an anesthetic used for dogs and cats, were missing. Gilford and Meredith police executed a search warrant on Sanborn's apartment Tuesday. They said he worked as a janitor in the building and used his key to access the offices. The video showed him taking drugs in a late-night visit, police said.
Sanborn was arraigned in 4th Circuit Court, Laconia District Division Wednesday morning and released on $25,000 personal recognizance bail.
