Manchester police car in collision at Union and Hayward streets

MANCHESTER — Police are investigating a collision between a Manchester police car and a civilian vehicle that happened at about 12:35 p.m. Tuesday at Union and Hayward streets.

Manchester Police Sgt. Brian O’Keefe said the female driver of the civilian vehicle, who was not identified, was treated at the scene and released.

O’Keefe said the police officer, whom he also did not identify, was transported to the Elliot Hospital for a possible hand injury.

The civilian vehicle was placed on a flatbed truck and the police car, whose driver side airbag had deployed, was towed away.

O’Keefe said more information would be released today, after the active investigation is completed.
