LEBANON — A city man is being held on $35,000 cash bail after being arrested for aggravated felonious sexual assault Wednesday night.
Shallon B. Thorpe, 37, of Lebanon is being held at the Grafton County House of Corrections.
Roberts said the victim of the assault is a minor.“It’s aggravated felonious sexual assault and the age of the victim has something to do with that,” he said. The assault allegedly took place a few months ago, Police Deputy Chief Phillip Roberts said Thursday, but was not reported to police until Wednesday.“We just got the information yesterday, but we acted on it,” Roberts said.
The report was investigated and by the end of the day, police were ready to request an arrest warrant from the court, which was then executed Wednesday night, Roberts said.
Thorpe was arrested at his home.
The charge is punishable by 7½ to 15 years in prison and a fine no less than $4,000.
Thorpe was arraigned on the charge in Lebanon District Court Thursday afternoon, during which his $35,000 cash bail was continued.
He was returned to the House of Corrections. The case remains under investigation. Thorpe is set to appear in the district court on March 10 for his probable cause hearing.
