Hickey in running to be town manager in Dracut
SALEM — Town Manager Keith Hickey is one of three finalists for the town manager position in Dracut, Mass.
Town officials had little comment on Hickey’s position as one of the finalists for the position across the state border.
Dracut selectmen announced the three finalists at its board meeting on Tuesday evening. The next step will be for the Dracut board to set up interviews with the three finalists over the coming weeks.
In addition to Hickey, North Reading, Mass., Town Administrator Greg Balukonis and Gloucester, Mass., Chief Administrative Officer James Duggan are the other two finalists for the Dracut position.
Salem Selectman Stephen Campbell would not comment on Hickey being a finalist for the position.
Salem selectmen next meet on Monday, March 3, but members would not say whether the board will discuss the possibility of Hickey leaving for Dracut.
Hickey was hired in Salem in December 2010 and was given a new three-year contract in 2012 by selectmen.
Before coming to Salem, Hickey was the town manager in Merrimack and Bedford.
