Slate: When wolf-killing was cool, legal, and paid well in NH

The blog of Dartmouth’s Rauner Special Collections Library notes the bounty paid in 1778 for killing a wolf in New Hampshire was “just a little less than a sergeant in the British Army would have earned in a year.”
