MILFORD — The Heron Pond Elementary School will have a familiar face in the principal’s office when Peter Bonaccorsi retires at the end of the year.

The Milford School Board recently announced that Assistant Principal Chantal Alcox will take the reins of Heron Pond on July 1, said Superintendent Robert Suprenant.

Alcox has served as assistant principal at the school for four years. She has also served at the school district’s Title I director and taught elementary school in the district as well, said Suprenant. Alcox, a longtime resident of Milford, has a master’s degree is special education and is certified as a reading specialist, teacher and principal.

The new principal is “an energetic, creative, and exceptionally qualified school administrator who has an outstanding knowledge of the Milford community and Milford educational system,” said Suprenant.
