Police dog tracks suspected Goffstown burglar through snow to shed

GOFFSTOWN — A former resident, who police said apparently returned to his old neighborhood for a burglary, now faces multiple local charges as well as federal issues.

Goffstown Police Capt. Rob Browne said a Larch Street resident reported seeing a man, later identified as Justin Reynolds, 27, now of Merrimack, peeking into house windows on the street Friday.

When police arrived and began checking the residence, a man was spotted leaving out a side door.

During the pursuit, Browne said police first found a holster and later a gun, so a perimeter was set up and assistance provided by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department and a Manchester police search dog.

Browne said he couldn’t imagine the dog would be able to track through all the snow, but the fleeing man was traversing plowed driveways and yards and the dog tracked him to a shed two streets away, where he was arrested without incident.

It was not a good day for Reynolds, said Browne. “He had brass knuckles,” said Browne, so he was charged with two counts of felon in possession of a dangerous weapon. Reynolds was also charged with two counts of burglary, for the house and the shed, and resisting arrest.

Bail was initially set at $40,000, but at Reynolds’s arraignment Tuesday in Circuit Court-Goffstown District Division, Browne said a judge set bail at $27,500 cash-only with a Feb. 27 probable cause hearing.

But his troubles keep mounting, said Browne, because the U.S. Marshal Service had a warrant for Reynolds, who is on federal probation.
