Campton firefighters battle two-alarm blaze

February 17. 2014 11:26PM

CAMPTON _ Firefighters who were wrapping up at a snowmobile accident were called to a two-alarm fire Monday afternoon.

Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue said the fire at 481 Winterbrook Road started around 3:30 p.m. Crews found heavy smoke and flames at the site, but were able to extinguish the fire within about an hour.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, Chief Daniel Defosses said in a release.

One of the crews that responded to the fire had just completed a rescue after a snowmobile accident, using a snowmobile and rescue toboggan to transport the injured woman through the woods to an ambulance.
