Pembroke Academy boys win in OT
PEMBROKE — The Pembroke Academy boys’ basketball team came back from a 12-point halftime deficit to defeat Bishop Brady in overtime, 70-65, Sunday night in Pembroke.
Patrick Welch scored 31 points including 22 in the second half.
Dominic Timbas added 21 points.
Jourdain Bell scored 27 points for Bishop Brady, including a putback at the buzzer to tie the game at 60-60 and send it to overtime.
Bishop Brady scored 26 points in the second quarter to turn what was a 14-11 Spartan lead to a 37-27 Giant advantage at the half.
Pembroke was still down by 11, 53-42 going into the fourth quarter when Welch and Timbas combined for 14 points while shutting down the Brady offense.
In overtime Pembroke took control while Brady turned the ball over.
The loss ends a nine-game win streak for Bishop Brady, which falls to 11-3. Pembroke Academy sits atop the Division II standings at 14-1 with three games remaining.
