Snowmobiler hurt in Lancaster crash

State Fish and Game officers say a 40-year-old Lancaster man was hurt when his snowmobile tipped on Mount Prospect Trail in Lancaster and threw him from the machine.

Michael Vashaw of Lancester was taken to Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster and then taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. His injuries were described as severe, but not life-threatening.

The crash happened when Vashaw was on his way home and failed to handle a turn in the trail and was thrown from the snowmobile.

Investigators said alcohol "is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash."
