Whitefield man severely injured in snowmobile crash

February 15. 2014 9:31AM

RANDOLPH — A Whitefield man suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries after he crashed a rented snowmobile into trees off of the Presidential Range Rail Trail on Friday evening, authorities said Saturday.

Authorities believe a combination of speed, high winds and blowing snow were contributing factors in the crash.

Ryan Glidden, 36, of Whitefield, was operating a Polaris Indy XLT with his wife on the back when he went off trail heading east on Corridor 12 and crashed into some small trees around 9 p.m., according to Fish & Game.

He was taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for treatment of his injuries, authorities said.

Glidden's wife was thrown from the machine and not injured.
