Navy cites lessons from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard torching of USS Miami
KITTERY, Maine — The U.S. Navy has released a new fire safety and prevention manual, part of which is based of what officials are calling "lessons learned" from an arson fire on board the USS Miami submarine at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 2012. The blaze on May 23, 2012, came after shipyard worker Casey Fury set a small fire on a bunk aboard the submarine, in hopes of leaving work early.
