Obamacare & work: A powerful disincentive

Last week the Congressional Budget Office released a report estimating that Obamacare will reduce employment by the equivalent of 2.5 million jobs. The top two reasons, according to the CBO, are “subsidies for health insurance purchased through exchanges” and the “expansion of eligibility for Medicaid.”

How timely, for New Hampshire is on the verge of possibly expanding Medicaid. Legislators should consider this new evidence, which shows that like welfare before welfare reform, Obamacare creates a powerful disincentive to work. People now get through Washington what they used to get through working — health insurance.

Creating dependence on Washington was not a glitch; it was one of the primary goals of Obamacare.
