Jones, Toffoli return to Monarchs

The Manchester Monarchs will be bolstered by some old friends when they host the Providence Bruins in “Pink in the Rink” night Saturday at 7 at Verizon Wireless Arena.

Goalie Martin Jones and forward Tyler Toffoli, both of whom have spent significant time in Manchester in recent years, were assigned by the Los Angeles Kings to the Monarchs and will be in the lineup tonight. The Kings are idle until after the Olympic break.

To make room for Jones, the Monarchs assigned goalie J.F. Berube to L.A.

Jones, 24, was 8-4 in 13 games with the Kings, with a 1.71 goals-against average. He has also played in 15 games with Manchester this season, posting an 11-2-2 record with a 2.08 goals-against average.

Toffoli, 21, has appeared in 38 games with Los Angeles, recording 19 points (10-9-19). He has also played in 13 games in Manchester, recording 16 points (10-6-16).

Tonight’s game will mark the team’s fourth annual Pink in the Rink game. The players will be wearing pink jerseys and skating on pink ice. There will be silent and live auctions for the pink jerseys, and proceeds from the event will benefit Catholic Medical Center’s Breast Care Center.

The Bruins also announced on Friday that they acquired defenseman Blake Parlett from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Carter Camper. Parlett has skated in 37 games for Springfield of the AHL this season and has four goals and 14 assists.
