High School Roundup:Campbell, Derryfield girls win; West boys rally to topple Salem

Bishop Brady led 23-16 at halftime but could not hold on as host Campbell of Litchfield came back for a 57-39 win in girls' basketball action Monday night.

Campbell (11-1) outscored Brady (10-2) by a 25-7 margin in the third quarter. Campbell was led by Hannah Neild with 26 points and six steals. Kylee Julia chipped in with 17 points. Brady was paced by Sarah Thomas with 16 points.Derryfield 59, Portsmouth Christian 34: In Manchester, Hannah Comeau scored a career-high 36 points, including 16 points in the first quarter when the Cougars led 21-7. She added 15 more in the third quarter, pushing Derryfield out to a 55-28 lead. She had 15 baskets including four, three-point shots.

Hannah Menakaya added seven points and 11 rebounds. Molly Brady contributed eight points and seven boards for the 8-5 Cougars. Portsmouth Christian (2-10) was led Nikki Dudley with 17 points.

Boys' basketball

Manchester West 67, Salem 57: At Manchester, Salem led 46-39 heading into the fourth quarter, but West went on a 28-11 run to earn the win. Alfred Nyonee hit a 2-point bucket and then two straight 3-pointers to put West on top to stay. Nyonee scored 12 in the fourth and 17 overall to lead West. Richard Shout added 16 points and Joe Simpson chipped in 11. Salem was paced by Michael Felix with 26 points. Tim Dodier added 14. West is 2-8; Salem fell to 3-5.

Boys' hockey

Berlin 1, Kennett 0: Connor Jewett collected a loose rebound in overtime and jammed it home to lift Berlin past host Kennett of Conway in a Division III ice hockey contest Monday. Justin Vien and Blake Leborge each gained an assist for the 9-1 Mountaineers.

Berlin has beaten Kennett (4-5) three times this season.

Brenden Williams collected the shutout with 11 saves and Kennett goalie Josh Kondrat deserved a better fate with 33 saves.Bedford 8, Timberlane 2: Mike Dee and Neil Soucy each collected two goals as the Bulldogs pulled away in the second period at the ICEnter in Salem. Dee added two assists.

Bedford improved to 10-0 in Division II, while Timberlane dropped to 1-9.
