OFFICER ANDREW KARLIS

Nashua officer a livesaver

NASHUA — Police Officer Andrew Karlis was awarded the department's Commendation Bar for Life Saving for reviving a young woman who collapsed last October on Kinsley Street.

Police said Karlis was on routine patrol on Oct. 26 when he saw a woman walking unsteadily on the sidewalk and then stumble to the ground.

Karlis immediately stopped his cruiser and went to help her. The woman was not breathing, had no pulse and was turning blue.

He called for an ambulance and then began CPR. After a short period, he revived the woman, identified only as a 25-year-old Nashua resident.

She was later transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center for further treatment.
