ALLENSTOWN — The man whose house alleged stabber Samantha Heath fled to Sunday night was at an underage drinking party at which the stabbing victim was arrested last year.
Police continue to investigate how Heath and Andrea Halvorsen, both 18, ended up in Bear Brook State Park Sunday, with Halvorsen suffering from 15 stab wounds to the chest, stomach, back and arm.
Police say Heath stabbed Halversen in her car, then pushed the wounded Allenstown woman onto a deserted road in the state park, almost running over her.
Heath then fled about 15 miles to the Barnstead home of Kyle Buffum, 22, police said. Heath was at Buffum’s home at 6 Amherst St. when police discovered her packing a bag of her belongings.
Heath was arraigned on a first-degree assault charge Monday and is being held on $50,000 cash bail. Assistant County Attorney George Waldron said that a charge of attempted murder against Heath is a possibility. Halvorsen remains in Concord Hospital.
According to court records, Heath has a protective order against Buffum.
Previously, Buffum was charged with two counts of simple assault against Heath; his bail conditions forbid contact with Heath. On Monday, Police and the County Attorney’s Office initially reported that Buffum had a protective order against Heath, but Barnstead Police confirmed Tuesday it was the other way around.
After Heath fled Buffum’s house Sunday night, she was tracked down after an hour by the State Police K9 unit, Buffum was also arrested for violating a protective order.
While the Merrimack County Attorney’s office has stated that Buffum’s house was listed as Heath’s permanent address, police say that shouldn’t be the case due to the protective order.
Last June, Buffum as well as Andrea Halvorsen were among 33 people arrested in connection with an underage house party in Concord. Buffum, who lived at the 46 Concord St. residence, was charged with prohibited sales. Halversen was charged with possession of alcohol.
Allenstown Police Chief Paul Paquette said Tuesday that police were unaware of the Buffum connection between Heath and Halvorsen, but added that police would investigate it. He added that beyond asking for a lawyer, Heath has not spoken to police.
The State Police Major Crime Unit is assisting in the investigation, and executed a warrant on Buffum’s house Monday. Police said they expected to get a warrant to search Heath’s car today.
