Police: Manchester man stole power equipment in Merrimack

January 27. 2014 10:01PM

A Manchester man faces a felony burglary charge for allegedly backing a mini-van into a Merrimack driveway Nov. 12 and loading it with power equipment he took from the house, police said Monday.

A probable cause hearing will be held in 9th Circuit Court in Merrimack on Thursday for James P. Smith, 34, of 330 Auburn St., police said.

His alleged female accomplice, Sherry Anne Vincent, 39, of Londonderry, was previously charged with criminal liability for the conduct of another for the crime of burglary, police said. She is awaiting trial.

A witness became suspicious of a green minivan driving up and down a cul-de-sac in the town’s north end near the Bedford town line during the middle of the day, police said. When the van slowly backed in to a neighbor’s driveway, the witness began taking pictures that allegedly showed Smith loading power equipment from the garage into the van. The witness also got a photograph of the van’s license plate, police said.
