On Feb. 8, members of the Hollis Nor’Easters Snowmobile Club will host the third annual Pink Ride at Silver Lake State Park.
Event organizer Sue Keough said the ride continues to grow each year. In the past two winters, it has raised nearly $14,000 for the cause.
Eventually, however, Keough was introduced to other female snowmobilers and following a group ride to nearby Brookline, discussions centered on finding a way to give back to the community.
Keough’s father lost his battle with lung cancer several years’ back, and she said his positive attitude, despite his diagnosis, continues to inspire her.
A year later, the weather was more cooperative, and more and more snowmobile clubs and area families filed in.
Participants will meet at the park, located on Route 122 in Hollis. The 45-ride will begin at 10 a.m. A cookout and dogsledding demonstrations will complete the day’s festivities.
“Just raise whatever you can,” Keough said. “It will be a nice, easy ride.”
Granite State legislators, local personalities and members of several other area snowmobile clubs, have been invited to take part. Keough said she’s even invited NH native Adam Sandler, and she’s crossing her fingers that the famous comedian might drop by the park.
