Vey now lone Monarch in AHL All-Star Game
With goaltender Martin Jones called up to Los Angeles and no longer playing with the Manchester Monarchs, Dustin Tokarski is getting the call to the AHL All-Star Game.
The AHL announced Monday that St. John’s IceCaps defenseman Brenden Kichton, Albany Devils forward Joe Whitney and Tokarski of the Hamilton Bulldogs have been added to the all-star roster for the 2014 AHL All-Star Classic scheduled for next month at Mile One Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Tokarski replaces Jones, who played in 15 games with the Monarchs this season with an 11-2-2 record, a 2.08 goals-against-average, a .933 save percentage, and one shutout.
That leaves Manchester forward Linden Vey as the lone Monarch playing in the game.
Taking place just prior to the start of the Olympics, the AHL all-star game will pit a team of AHL players against Färjestad BK, one of the top professional teams in the Swedish Hockey League.
