Vermont man dies in Erroll logging truck accident

A Vermont man was killed Monday in accident involving a tractor-trailer truck that stopped so the driver could put tire chains on the vehicle.

State Police said the rig, owned by Kelley Trucking of Milan and operated by Mike Doucette, 24, of Milan had stopped near Millsfield Pond in Errol, just north of the Cambridge town line.

Doucette had stopped the truck , which was delivering logging equipment, about two miles shy of its destination to install the chains. The victim, Brian Young, was the operator of the equipment being carried into the woods.

Young helped install the chains, but police said that Doucette, thinking the other man was clear of the vehicle, began to drive the tractor-trailer forward when Young was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed, and the investigation remains under investigation.
