Police say Manchester sex offender registrations rise 10 percentStaff Report

MANCHESTER — Police said they saw a 10 percent rise in the number of people registering as sex offenders in 2013.
There were 517 city residents registering in 2013, Manchester police said.
Of those, 125 were on state probation or parole, authorities said.
Police said they couldn’t offer a specific reason for the increase.
Authorities conducted 2,273 compliance checks at the homes and workplaces of sex offenders.
Police also tallied 2,139 visits to the police station by sex offenders to report a change in their address and/or employment.
